When we receive lawful requests from law enforcement agencies to disclose customer information, we shall, in compliance with applicable laws, review such requests in a diligent manner and decide whether disclosure is appropriate based on our strict internal standards.
As a general rule, Mercari does not disclose users’ personal information to third parties without prior user consent. However, when we receive lawful requests from investigative authorities for disclosure of user information, our specialized team carefully reviews the request and determines whether it is appropriate to disclose the information in accordance with relevant laws and internal standards. We disclose the minimum amount of information necessary to investigative authorities only if the request is reasonable, lawful, necessary, and appropriate.
In order to ensure a safe and secure platform for our users, we cooperate earnestly in criminal investigations. We are committed to protecting our users’ privacy and will continue to regularly review and update our standards for handling disclosure requests from investigative authorities. We will also regularly publish transparency reports on how these requests are being handled to ensure that our users can continue to use our services with peace of mind.
