After graduating from Waseda University, Shintaro Yamada established Unoh Inc., where he launched various internet services including "Movie Life," "Photozou," and "Machitsuku!". In 2010, he sold Unoh to Zynga. After leaving Zynga in 2012, he went on a trip around the world. In February 2013, he established Mercari, Inc. He also established the YAMADA Shintaro D&I Foundation in July 2021.
Fumiaki Koizumi

After graduating from Waseda University, Fumiaki Koizumi joined Daiwa Securities SMBC, where he managed the IPOs of tech companies including mixi, Inc. and DeNA Co., Ltd. In 2006, he joined mixi, Inc. as Director, Executive Officer, and CFO, and supervised the Corporate Division. After leaving mixi in 2012, Fumiaki supported a number of startup companies. In December 2013, he joined Mercari, Inc., where he assumed the role of Director in March 2014. He was appointed as President & COO in April 2017, and as Director, President in September 2019. He also assumed the role of CEO of Kashima Antlers F.C. Co., Ltd. in August 2019.

Sayaka Eda completed her pre-doctoral course (master’s degree) at the Graduate School of Science and Engineering from Keio University Graduate School. In April 2006, she joined Goldman Sachs Japan Co., Ltd. After joining the company, she was engaged in investment/loan projects that utilize their own funds, etc., and was appointed as a Managing Director at the same company in 2017 based on her extensive financial knowledge outside of corporate finance. Outside of her work, she also serves as the Co-Chair of the Japan Women’s Network and leads the promotion of D&I. Sayaka joined Mercari, Inc. as CFO in January 2021. In January 2023, she assumed the position of Senior Vice President of Corporate and CFO. She has been in her current position of Director, Executive Officer, Senior Vice President of Corporate, CFO since September 2023.

After graduating from Montclair State College in the US, Mayumi Tochinoki worked in account auditing, internal auditing, and compliance at accounting firms and foreign-based financial institutions. As the head of the internal auditing department at JP Morgan, Mayumi not only was involved in internal auditing for all of JP Morgan’s offices in Japan, but also served as head of the group’s Asia region Compliance Testing Group. After serving as Chief Administrative Officer and compliance officer for S&P Global Ratings Japan, she joined Mercari in January 2019. She first served as the head of the Internal Audit Office before becoming an Audit and Supervisory Board member for Mercari,. In September 2023, she was appointed Director.

After graduating from Keio University, Makiko Shinoda joined the Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan (currently SBI Shinsei Bank). She received an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.A in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University, to later work as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. Later, she worked for Novartis and Nestlé to create and execute their business plans, build their internal management system, and lead the PMI. She joined Hobonichi in 2008, and contributed to their IPO as CFO, Director & Manager-Administration. She left the company in 2018 to recharge, and joined YeLL’s Board of Directors in March 2020.

Takuya Kitagawa has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Physics from Harvard College and a Ph.D. in Physics from Harvard University. In 2012, he joined Rakuten, Inc. (currently Rakuten Group, Inc.). In 2019, he assumed the position of Managing Executive Officer, Chief Data Officer of Rakuten Group, where he led AI/data strategy, research, and execution, as well as oversaw five overseas offices, including in India and the US. He currently serves as President and Director of QuEra Computing and Co-founder and Director of Public Interest Incorporated Association Well-being for Planet Earth.

After graduating from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Law, Daiken Tsunoda joined Mori Sogo (currently Mori Hamada & Matsumoto). Following this, he founded Nakamura & Tsunoda (currently Nakamura, Tsunoda & Matsumoto). He then went on to serve as outside officer for a number of companies, including as Outside Audit and Supervisory Board Member of Mercari starting in September 2021. In April 2023, he established Daiken Tsunoda Law Office.

After graduating from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Law, Kazuhiko Toyama received his MBA from Stanford University before passing the bar examination. He joined Boston Consulting Group, then held the positions of Representative Director of Corporate Direction Inc. and Representative Director and COO of Industrial Revitalization Corporation of Japan. He established Industrial Growth Platform, Inc. (IGPI) in 2007, where he was involved in supporting management reform and growth for many companies before becoming Chairman of IGPI Group in October 2020. He also serves as Chairman of General Incorporated Association Japan Association of Corporate Directors.

Shiho Konno graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo and became a certified lawyer in 1991. Alongside her law practice, she also works to support management strategies and education in law. She has also served as Outside Director for numerous corporations. She is currently a member of the Committee on Realization of a Gender-Equal Society at the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, and is also the representative and a lawyer at Shiho Konno Habataki Law Office.

After graduating from Osaka City University (currently Osaka Metropolitan University), Kumi Fujisawa worked at investment management companies in Japan and overseas before starting her own investment trust evaluation company. She took part in the founding of the think tank SophiaBank and was the representative from 2013 to March 2022. In April 2022, she took on the role of Chairperson of NEC Group’s independent think tank, the Institute for International Socio-Economic Studies. On top of serving in public office in roles such as Policy Board member for government ministries and Director of Public Interest for the Japan Securities Dealers Association and other organizations, she has also served as Outside Director for numerous corporations.

After graduating from the Faculty of Agriculture at Kyoto University, Mayumi Umezawa completed her MBA at Bond University in Australia. She was registered as a certified public accountant in 2006. Mayumi joined the Tokyo office of Tohmatsu & Co. (currently Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu LLC) and worked on domestic auditing, and then joined McDonald’s Company (Japan), Ltd. and The Walt Disney Company (Japan) Ltd. where she experienced a wide range of work, including accounting, budget management, corporate planning, and more. In 2016, she founded Accounting Labo Co., Ltd., taking on the role of Representative Director. She is the representative of Mayumi Umezawa CPA Office, and has also served as Outside Director for numerous corporations.

Kikka Hanazawa graduated from Columbia University and completed her MBA at Harvard Business School.
