Mercari Forms Business Partnership With President Chain Store to Strengthen Crossborder Transaction Business

Mercari, Inc. (“Mercari;” headquarters: Minato, Tokyo; Representative Executive Officer and CEO: Shintaro Yamada) announces that it has formed a business partnership with the operator of 7-ELEVEN Taiwan, President Chain Store Corporation (“President Chain Store;” headquarters: Xinyi, Taipei; Chairman: Chih Hsien Lo), in order to strengthen its crossborder transaction business.   Furthermore, starting today, users will be able to pick up items purchased on Mercari via crossborder transactions at over 7,000 7-ELEVEN Taiwan stores.

Background

As part of its global strategy, Mercari expanded its operations to Taiwan through crossborder transactions in August 2024.¹ Users residing in Taiwan are able to register for an account on Mercari (Traditional Chinese name: 美露可利) and purchase items listed in Japan via Mercari Web. Approximately one month since its launch, the service has exceeded 50,000 user registrations,² and many users in Taiwan are purchasing unique items from Japan that can only be found on Mercari.

7-ELEVEN Taiwan, operated by President Chain Store, has over 7,000 locations—the most out of all convenience store chains in Taiwan. With a rich variety of products and advanced, convenient services such as ATMs and storage, 7-ELEVEN Taiwan has become an indispensable part of daily life for many in Taiwan.

Now, to provide an even more convenient shopping experience, Mercari and President Chain Store have partnered to launch a convenience store pickup service, which is the method used by 80% of users in Taiwan to receive items purchased on e-commerce sites.³ Starting today, users can set their delivery method to “convenience store pickup” for items purchased on Mercari and pick up their items from any 7-ELEVEN Taiwan store. Additionally, through this business partnership, Mercari and President Chain Store plan to launch various joint campaigns and other initiatives to enhance convenience for users in Taiwan.
